Oraimo Tempo OFB-10 Smart Band Unboxing & Review + Guide

Hello friends! Today I am going to unbox and review the new Oraimo Tempo OFB-10 (smart-band). It’s been like a week since I have been using this fitness band. In this post I am going to tell you about the features of the band, the pros & cons of the band, its accuracy level and then compare it with the other fitness bands available in the market such as MI band 3, Fit-bits, etc. Let’s start…

Oraimo Tempo is the best band for regular use at a very low price ($20 or Rs.1500 approx.). More over, it has a very flashy look and is very light-weighted. It is available in a single colour- black only. It comes with a charger and a user manual.

The hardware features of the band are as follows:

The full length of the band is 0.49 inch. It comes with an 80mAh battery and a long battery life of 7 days. The size of the band’s strap, which is made of very skin-friendly material, is 240 x 16 x 11.9 mm. The size of the main unit of the band (the bracelet) is 46.5 x 20 x 11.9 mm. The main unit has OLED display-screen on top of it. This band doesn’t have a full touch display but it has a touch pad camouflaging on the bottom of the screen. Oraimo is planning to get a full touch-display in the next update of their band. Oraimo Tempo is IP67 Splash Resistant, which means that the band can be dropped into a body of water up to a meter deep for half-an-hour at most. Also, the band is sweat and dust-resistant. It can be connected to your phone via Bluetooth. However, it’s compatibility is limited to Bluetooth 4.0 or higher only (you cannot connect the smart band to your phone if your phone doesn’t have Bluetooth 4.0 or higher). The best thing about the band is that it has a 365-days warranty.

Now, let’s have a look at the digital features of the Oraimo Tempo OFB-10 smart band. The essential features are:

The band comes, of course, with a Date & Time display. In addition to this, it has a Pedometer which counts the steps you walk or run throughout the day. The Pedometer resets on its own after mid-night. Besides these, the smart band also has a distance calculator which calculates the estimated distance you have walked on the basis of the steps counted, and a calculator for the number of calories burnt. Coming with the Date & Time feature is the alarm clock feature. You can set the time you want to wake up in the morning through your phone, and the band will start vibrating at that time. You can also schedule the alarm clock by specifying the days on which the alarm should ring.

Apart from all these essential features, there are some standout features as well:

Sleep Monitoring is one of the best features of Oraimo Tempo OFB-10 smart band. This feature allows you to monitor your sleep by getting very specific data on your sleep timings, such as: Total sleep time, Total Deep/ Shallow sleep time, number of times you woke up, when did you sleep and when were you awake. The next feature on the list is the lift to view feature. This allows you to wake your band up (turn your screen on) just by lifting up your wrist (Gyro sensor). Sedentary Reminder is another good feature of the band. You can set up the time periods between which if you keep seated at a particular place for more than forty-five minutes, your band will start vibrating and notify you to get up. Other than all these, there are features such as call reminders, message and app notifications, etc. If you enable these your band will vibrate and notify you whenever you get a call on your phone, receive an SMS or an app notification (for people who like to keep their phones on silent mode). There are other features as well such as-‘Shake to Take Photograph’ which allows you to take a photograph just by shaking your wrist.

Please note: When you buy your band, the Date & Time in it might not be according to your time zone. You need to connect your band to your phone to get the time right. The band will automatically get synced with your phone’s time. All the software features listed above can also be adjusted on your phone.

How to connect your band to your phone?

  1. You need to download an app called ‘Joywear’ from Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS). You can either scan the QR Code given on the sides of the box in which your band is packed-to download the app or you can simply go to Play Store or App Store and search for the app by its name.
  2. Open the app. 1
  3. Click on the ‘Link Your Health Band Option’
  4. Allow all the permissions that the app requires.
  5. You will see the name of your band on the screen. (Default name: ‘Tempo’)
  6. Click on your band.
  7. Your band will be connected and synced with your phone. The Date & Time on your band will be matched up with your phone. Now, you can surf the app set it according to your needs.

Please note: Your phone should have Bluetooth 4.0 or higher in order to connect the band with it.

My Experience with Oraimo Tempo OFB-10.

The band is fine to use. However, the Pedometer of the band is very, very inaccurate. Sometimes, it doesn’t even count a single step even if you have walked several. Sometimes, it counts twice or even thrice the number of steps you have actually walked. Sometimes, when you are doing some work, such as writing or playing or travelling in a vehicle, it counts a large number of steps, though you haven’t walked even a single. As the distance calculator’s algorithm works according to the steps count, the distance calculator is also inaccurate. This leaves no hope for the calorie-meter as it is also based on the Pedometer.

Now, as I am done with the primary features of the band, its Pros & Cons and its accuracy level, I would like to compare it with the other bands available in the Market.

Comparison

Features

There are a lot of bands available in the market that have a whole bunch of sophisticated features, such as Weather-forecast, GPS, Heart beat sensor, optimized steps count, etc. However, Oraimo Tempo OFB-10 smart band doesn’t have many of these features.

Accuracy

In Pedometer accuracy, most of the bands are on the same boat but a few of them are nearly accurate, such as Fit-bits and MI bands. However, Oraimo has to improve way more to achieve a certain level of Pedometer accuracy. On the other hand, Oraimo Tempo has a very accurate Sleep Monitoring feature which most of the bands suck at.
